Members of the Institute of Chinese Finance Studies (ICFS) of SWUFE took part in the 11th China Financial Research Conference

As the top academic conference in the field of finance among Chinese universities, the 11th China Financial Research Conference was held at the China-ASEAN Institute of Guangxi University from October 25th to 26th, 2014. Prof. WANG Qing, the director of the Institute of Chinese Finance Studies (ICFS) of SWUFE, as the delegate of the council, and the associate prof. MO Jianming , as the representative of the selected colloquium papers of the conference, were invited to attend the conference.

Prof. WANG Qing attended this board meeting, in which the decision to add the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as the governing unit of the China Financial Research Conference was passed. And it was agreed that the conference next year is to be held in Zhongnan University of Economics and Law in October, 2015.

On October 25th, Prof. WANG Qing presided over a panel discussion at the branch venue (Section 3) with the topic focusing on Commercial Bank. Associate Prof. MO Jianming and PhD student WANG Jinyang attended this conference as the selected colloquium paper authors and presented their papers in the thematic forum. Prof. MO Jianming presented a research paper entitled "The Uncertainty of the Tail Measurement of Operational Risk under Weibull Distribution" at the Financial Engineering and Risk Management session (16th panel forum). And he also commented on the paper entitled "Research on the Net Contagion of Financial Market's Extreme Risk among BRICS Countries Based on Spatial Econometrics " and "Financial Institution Crisis and Financial Crisis: A Perspective of the General Equilibrium Model of a Heterogeneous Dynamic ". WANG Jinyang presented his research paper entitled "Nonlinear Dependence Structure, Time-Varying Systematic Risk Measurement and Backtesting Analysis" at the financial engineering and risk management branch (the 19th panel forum) and he also made comments on some other papers. More than 360 papers were received and a total of more than 120 papers were selected in the China Financial Research Conference this year. Nearly 300 scholars and selected colloquium paper authors from 56 universities at home and abroad participated in the opening ceremony of the conference and 30 thematic forums.

About the China Financial Research Conference: On December 21st , 2003, co-sponsored by 6 universities, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Xiamen University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. Scholars from 19 universities, including Renmin University of China, Nankai University, Central University of Finance, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Xi’an Jiao Tong University, Nanjing University, Wuhan University, Sun Yat-sen University, Zhejiang University, Northeast University of Finance and Economics, Tianjin University, Tianjin University of Finance and Economics, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology as wells as experts from China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC)gathered in Beijing and established the Council of China Financial Research Conference(CFRC). During the discussion, the proposal to unite leading universities and organizations in China’s financial research organize the CFRC were approved and the academic journal Quarterly Journal of Finance was agreed to be established afterward. CFRC is discussed to be held annually since 2004, on the last weekend of October of each year. Organized by major Chinese universities in turn, the conference is now the top meeting in terms of finance around China, with its participants covering the most distinguished universities of finance, economics and management in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
